Narrative is established as one of the most potent and evocative genres of discourse. Beyond the mere subject matter, the "mode of representation"—the how of the storytelling—carries profound significance. It can be argued that when the thematic core of a story is synthesized through diverse narrative techniques, its expressive power and aesthetic impact are substantially amplified. Consequently, narrative techniques constitute the fundamental pillars of short stories. These techniques vary contingent upon the author’s objective, erudition, and creative prowess. Throughout the historical trajectory of the genre, narrative methods have undergone significant diversification, with their typologies expanding progressively. Within the Yedi Meşale movement, which introduced a fresh impetus to Turkish literature, Kenan Hulûsi Koray distinguishes himself through his dedication to prose. While the other six members of the collective primarily focused on poetic endeavors, Koray gained prominence for his contributions to the short story and the novel. In his narratives, Koray predominantly gravitated toward individualistic themes, employing a stylistic approach that mirrored the poetic sensibilities of the movement. Following the cessation of the group’s eponymous journal, his work transitioned toward a more simplified linguistic register and an increased focus on social issues. Renowned for his narrative contributions over a fifteen-year literary career, one of Koray’s most salient characteristics is the enrichment of his prose through sophisticated narrative techniques. The objective of this research is to analyze Kenan Hulûsi Koray’s short story, İncir Fidanları, through the lens of narrative techniques. The study employs document analysis, a qualitative research methodology. The data gathered through document review were processed using the categorical aggregation method. Consequently, it is observed that in "İncir Fidanları," Koray utilizes techniques such as narration/diegesis, dramatization/ showing, description, discourse (external monologue, external dialogue, interior monologue, and interior dialogue), internal analysis (psychological portrayal), stream of consciousness, leitmotif, and flashback.
